Founded

Founded in 1969 as Christ College, under the administration of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), a Roman Catholic congregation .

Awarded

Awarded autonomy by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2004 and recognized as an “Institution with Potential for Excellence” in 2006.

Deemed-to-be University

In 2008, it achieved the status of a Deemed-to-be University under the UGC Act, and subsequently adopted the name Christ (Deemed to be University) .

NAAC A+

The institution has consistently been accredited with an NAAC A+ grade, reflecting its academic standards and quality .

Leadership​

Dr Fr Joseph C C

Vice Chancellor, Dr Fr Joseph C C, CMI, has a MA in history from Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda, Gujarat and a PhD from Pondicherry University, Pondicherry. He has been working with CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore, in various capacities since 1996. A Professor of History, and an active researcher, he has served as the Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director of many Centres of the University. He has attended academic programmes across countries such as Sri Lanka, Thailand, Singapore, China, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, and USA. He is deeply committed to innovations in teaching learning, research, student experience, leadership development and internationalization of the University.
